Nikon d3000 zoom lens?

I currently have a 18mm-55mm lens and i'm struggling when it comes to far away shots. So can anyone suggest a decent lens for around £150?

Only used at that price. Your best bet is something in the 55-250/70-300mm range. Find a dealer who carries used stock or pick up a copy of, 'Amateur Photographer,' and check the dealer adverts.
Just remember that you need an AF-S lens (or equivalent) with a built-in motor.AF lenses won' t allow autofocus (require body motor) and MF lenses don't allow metering. A warranty's useful too.

You could walk towards your subject but if you can't, go to http://bhphotovideo.com/...ovideo.com and look for lenses around the 75-300mm range that will fit your budget. Yes, make sure the lens autofocuses with your camera.
