Nikon d3000 camera help picture transfer?

I have a macbook and i already installed the sofware suite cd onto it and i plugged in the cable to my camera to my macbook and nothings happening

Added (1). My macbook doesn't have a outlet to put the sd card in

Take the SD card out of the camera, and plug it into your macbook. The data will transfer faster and there's no need at all for any sort of special software, just drag n' drop

Don't use the usb cable connection. Most of us serious photographers use an inexpensive USB memory card reader. You'll find them for under $20 easily online or at your local store. They're faster, more versatile, and won't drain your D3000's battery.

When you plug it in, you'll see it on your mac desktop as a new drive.

In fact, if your camera is turned on, you'd also see it as a new drive/device on your desktop.

Best option is to buy an external card reader which would work more efficiently.
