Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8 autofocus?
Hi, i have a Nikon D60 and just bought the Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8.
but it doesn't seem to be autofocusing. I mean, the pictures are great. But i gotta manual focus though.
is it the lens' problem? Or does this Nikkor lens just doesn't autofocus on the D60?
thanks for the help!
ps. Do you think i should return it to my frd if it doesn't autofocus? I mean… It was 700 and she sold it to me for 250.everything works fine, it's just the autofocusing: S
If it's not an AF-S lens (with its own internal AF motor) you can only manual focus. Nothing wrong with the lens, but the D60 (which is basically the same as the D40X) has no AF motor. You should have known that before buying it.
A better option than returning the lens would be to get a camera that can use that lens… A D80 or better would be good. That's a pretty good piece of glass for that price, you won't find a deal like that again.
It's not an AF-S lens.
Your lens will focus on semi-pro cameras like the D50, D90, D300, etc.
I would not return it. You got a, likely, unrepeatable great deal on that piece of glass. I would sell your D60 and upgrade your camera instead.

Are you sure you are asking about a 24-85mm f/2.8? Perhaps you are asking about the 24-85mm f/2.8-4D instead. Just curious.
