My Nikon D60's Lens.not working right?
I recently got a Gold Edition Nikon D60 from a pawn shop. It didn't come with anything but the camera body and a Nikon 18-55mm lens.
The problem I'm having is that sometimes the camera won't focus, and when I press the shutter release halfway, it makes a noise like if it's stuck or something. This is my first DSLR, so I don't know what to do… Any help?
If it's any help this is the 'info' the lens has:
Nikon DX
AF-S NIKKOR18-55 13.5-5.6GIIED
DX SWM ED Aspherical (?)-0.28m/0.92ft(?)52
It also has a UV Filter on it…
Well thank in advanced…
I hope you got the battery charger with it too.
Buying from a pawn shop is perhaps the worst place to buy a used camera unless YOU know everything you need to know about the camera you are buying.
Here is a link to the user manual, but if I were you, I would return it for a full refund.
The Nikon kit lenses have contact issues where this will happen. Rotate the lens base back and forth a couple times. This slight movement is usually enough to clean the contacts and make the camera operate properly. Sometimes, it's necessary to remove the lens and reattach to clean contacts.
Be sure to get a battery charger for this camera.
You can download the manual from Nikon's web site.
