Nikon D60 auto focus is no longer working?

I have a Nikon D60 and up until today the auto focus will not work unless I'm up close. I have a Nikkor 18-55 lens VR and it is set to A and not M. The flash is on and my pictures will not take anymore.

Make sure you are trying to focus on something that has good contrast. Take it outside in the day and try to focus on something far away. If it works, you need to learn more about focus. If it doesn't, try a different lens. Make sure both the body and the lens are on autofocus. If neither lens will focus, you need to contact Nikon. Be prepared to send it in to be fixed.
