My Nikon D5100 monitor?
When I take pictures with my monitor on my Nikon, it seems sluggish or slow, does anybody else have this problem? And how do I fix it?
Stop using live view and use the viewfinder. Live-view AF is slow on all DSLRs.
Your camera has a dedicated auto-focus unit that is in the light path when you use the viewfinder. However when you use live-view the that AF-unit is no longer in the light path. This forces the camera to use information it receives from the main sensor to try and figure out how to adjust the focus. Doing this takes far more processing power and hence your camera reacts sluggishly.
You fix it by not using Live-view!
Use the viewfinder. It will always be so much slower when you use the screen.
