Looking For Second hand digital SLR camera?

Preferably Canon or Nikon like Nikon D40 or Canon EOS 300D, needs to be rechargable. I have up to £200.00 to spend. Its for my 14 year old daughter who has decided to take up photography, hence second hand and cheap!

Any suggestions of similar cameras and good websites?

I'm American, do I'm not sure how much that is, but I get the point. Check out amazon.com if your looking for used. Deals often change so if you don't find something right away, don't give up. Also check on Wikipedia because it might be cheap because it is really old. Make sure it was good megipexas, too. Also don't forget Amazon has the A-Z Safe Buying Guarantee, so don't be too worried. My recommendation is the Nikon D3000 or a Canon Rebel. Also, it may be cheaper to buy a body only and buy the lenses seperatly.

I understand where you want to go but used gear is always a risk so know your source.

All dslr batteries are rechargeable but the question is how many batteries will come with a used camera? Will the deal include a charger? Are the batteries in question still available if there's none with the camera? That goes for the charger as well.

Technology changes so fast that often when a camera is discontinued everything about it is discontinued as well. But, there may be some 3rd party batteries and chargers available but you can have problems with these… I know, I have two 3rd party batteries that I can no longer use in either one of my Canon dslr cameras.

200 pounds isn't much when it comes to dslr cameras. New, and worth having, starts at about $600 US so you may be in for a search.

A Nikon d3000/3100 is a very good starter camera because it has an interface which is aimed at beginners.
However if you want full manual control you can do this with it, too.

Don't buy these things online, you can end up with an abused lump on your hands. Look at going to specialist second hand sellers, and camera fairs where you can spot telltale signs of abuse.
