Looking for a good online learning tool for DSLR cameras

I've had a Nikon D5000 for about a year and am still not getting the results I want. Does anybody have any good websites/books/ebooks/etc that will help a beginner. I do not need to learn how to "photograph" I got into photography because I have been told I have a good eye for a great picture. I'm just having trouble with te technical features of the camera itself.

There are plenty of 'photography basics' sites online, but the best way to learn is to join a local camera club if you can. There you will be able to go through it with someone who can backtrack if you don't get it the first time. Many offer beginners classes too.

There will also be the possibility of learning new techniques, going on group shoots getting feedback on your shots and entering competitions.
