Is this camera any good?

Do I need to buy any other lens or anything else?

This is a great camera for amateurs, pros and enthusiasts alike. It's super easy to use. The lens is 18-55mm, which is like a 3x zoom. It may not sound like much, but it offers high quality images. That lens is like your standard workhorse. Good all-around.
it's light and somewhat compact compared to the camera i own (a nikon d90) DSLRs are getting pretty popular these days!

The D5000 is a great camera for stills, since it did inherit the D90's sensor

what you see in the link is the kit, meaning it comes with an 18-55mm lens, which should be all you need for the time being. Until you get your skills up and know what you want to shoot, don't get another lens.

Just remember to learn how to correctly use that camera

It's a Nikon so it's good. But spring for the D5100. Newer, more functiality.

This is a really good camera! I recommend it. And its a dslr, you never go wrong with those. But there's a new one the nikon d5100 its more expensive but it offers a little more like more video options but this is still as good as the new one!
