Is the Nikon D80 still worth it?

I currently have a D3000 and I'm looking at upgrading. I'd love a D90 but the prices are just way too high right now- a refurb body is $850. I've done some research and I'm looking into the D80.

I've found the D80 used, with a 2 year used camera warranty, for $400. But what concerns me is that the D80 is an older camera- is it still worth buying today?

The D3000 actually will provide you a better platform for learning how to shoot amazing photos. Save your money and either buy a second lens or wait until you can budget for a D90

There's NOTHING that the D80 can do that the D3000 can't, in fact the white balance options on the D3000 are much more advanced

The only things you'll going to get is
motor in the body
cls commander
a few more buttons

If you don't need any of those then keep savig until you find a refurbished d90

Well first you've got to ask yourself why you want to upgrade. Is the D3000 not fast enough? Isn't robust enough? Doesn't have a wireless flash controller feature? Doesn't have a built-in AF motor? If you're not complaining about those things, there's really no reason to upgrade.

Personally, I would save up my money for the D90 (prices will continue to drop). That being said, I would still go for the D80 anyday over the D3000, as it feels much more robust and has more controls that I can easily access without going into the menu.
