I'm a beginner and looking for my first dslr. I want to know if its for me now i know that you may think i don't need this but i'm very serious about photography and passionate i'm a junior and id like to go to college for photography and i don't want to get an entry level camera and then have to upgrade and i know how to use ISO and the idea about aperture and shutter speed my thing will be understanding the buttons how the camera itself works what's what and getting the most potential out of it. I think i could do manual mode. I have so much i want and need to say i can't remember it all. Would i be overwhelmed by this camera i plan on being serious about photography.

I would say go for it. I'm looking into the same camera and i'm going to college for photography next fall. The Nikon D7000 takes great quality pictures, especially for the price. I recommend getting a few good lenses to go with it though. Try a standard Tamron. Also here's a good site that offers cameras and a ton of equipment for low prices and free shipping.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

If you think you could do manual mode you don't understand all yet. There's much more to learn, but with a proper camera it will be easier.

You plan on being serious about photography. All DSLRs will be good for that, the D7000 will be even better, especially if you will do shots in low light and action photography. Lenses are very important too.
