Is the Nikon D5100 still a good camera?

I see that the Nikon D5200 but it is way over my budget. I'm looking for a nice beginner/intermediate DSLR camera. I love taking photos of everything from nature to cars as well as enjoy making videos. I thought the D5100 would be a good choice but I don't know if the price will drop anytime soon. I search some sites like Cameta and Adorama and the Nikon Outlet Store and the cheapest I found was $480 for a refurbished 18-55 kit with a 1 year warranty. I also searched some legit forums and a guy selling his for $470 and it includes: camera bag, (2) batteries, battery charger, a 28-70 manual lens, a 70-210 manual lens, a 55mm tiffen UV lens, USB/AV Cable.

Should I wait for a price drop?

The price isn't going to drop anymore then it already has. The D5100 is still a good camera and it will be a good camera for years to come.

I still use my 9 year old Nikon D70.It still takes great pics and still has all the speed and customization I need.

DSLR's are not like throw away point and shoot cameras. You use them until the literally fall apart in your hands. Don't be dumb and get caught up in the latest tech. That will just empty your wallet quickly while offering you something that is just an improved version of the previous generation.

Are implying that it somehow became a bad camera along the way some time or where? What does that exactly mean? That it was a good camera but now, even though they're still manufactured brand new from the factory and shipped directly to the retailer that some how the camera became bad on the trip? I don't get it?

All dSLR's are good. They are all basically the same. Any camera can only be as good as its user. Beware of low offers. If it's too good to be true, it isn't. DSLR's start at around $500 and that's already competitively priced.
