Is the Nikon D5100 equivalent to the Canon t3i?

I was comparing cameras and found many similarities between the Nikon D1500 and the Canon t3i. I'm torn between these two.
Which is better?

This is comparing apples to apples, there's no better. These two companies make the best equipment on the planet - no better, just what you like. So pick one already.

Yes, they're both competing. Same LCD, same features, different brand. Quality is the same too!

Here's a DSLR Buying guide - http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2009/11/which-dslr-to-buy/

I'd get the T3i because I'm used to Canon, someone else might get Nikon. None is better.

Am from india… And i do have the same confusion you have on DSLR… In fact am a first time user / beginner of DSLR. But i dnt wanna go for any point and shoot. In fact i was curious for a long time but was waiting to earn enough on my own to get the best one. I wanna learn more on photography. So short listed DSLR and ofcourse first choice was NikonD7000 but then reduced the level to D5100 for economical and other reasons.bcz without knowing something, i was not interested to invest more. So finally i landed up with 2 models Nikon D5100 and CanonT3i / 600D. Don't know wat to go for… Only thing i knw is… I wanted the best and my snaps should impress. So have you decided wat to buy within thee 2 models? Have you thot of any mother model? Jus let me knw.

The Canon EOS Rebel T3i is a premium entry level DSLR that captures excellent still images and video. It is Mac friendly in terms of its bundled software, and its compatibility with Apple imaging applications. If you don't need the extended zooming range of the 18-135mm IS kit lens option, then you can save yourself a couple hundred dollars with the shorter 18-55mm kit zoom. Both lenses provide terrific image quality, and you can add lenses later as your budget allows.
