Is the Nikon D3100 good?

I really really want to buy this DSLR, but my dad saw its reviews on cnet.com and saw that it isn't getting any rave reviews. Are the editor's review in CNET reliable?

Can't always depend on reviews, it is a basic entry level Nikon DSLR. It does not have an in the body autofocus motor, so lenses are going to be a bit more for these cameras, because the lens has to have a motor on it. That is a huge drawback in my opinion,. I'd rather go with a camera with an in the body motor myself.

I think CNET sucks. If you want real reviews, go to amazon.com. There you will see reviews from actual buyers / users. Of course some of the reviews will be off because the user didn't know how to use the camera.
Nikon & Canon cover just about 80% of the market. I've heard nothing but good reviews of the Nikon
D3100.
