Is the Nikon 18-200mm VR compatible with the D3000 in autofocus?
I heard how some lenses are only compatible with manual focus on the lower level DSLR's. I was wondering what lense would be good for me to purchase since I only have the kit lens. If this lens isn't compatible, could you refer me a different one that would work?
Here's a review of this lens that you can check out.

Anything with AF-S in the name will get you autofocus. (with sigma it's hsm) and since the full name of this lens is:
AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED
So, yes, it works including autofocus on your d3000.
I would consider Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens for Nikon Digital SLR
5.5x Telephoto Zoom lens
Nikon VR II Image Stabilization; Tripod Detection Mode
HRI (High Refractive Index) Lens Element
2 Extra-low Dispersion (ED) Elements
Exclusive Nikon Silent Wave Motor (SWM)
