Is the 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Nikkor SLR Camera Lens compatible with the d60?

I keep reading that this lens is compatible with the Nikon d60 and others places say that it isn't… Please let me know. Thank you!

Added (1). Thank you both so much. I almost bought the wrong lens haha.

Nikon has 3 different 70-300mm lenses.
The 70-300mm G lens is an all plastic lens what will autofocus, but not meter with your D60.

The 70-300mm D lens has a much better build, but also doesn't have the necessary internal autofocus motor for your camera.

The 70-300mm AF-S VR lens is a perfect fit. It has the built-in AF motor, as well as VR (Vibration Reduction) that minimizes motion blur.

Another attractive alternative is the newer Nikon 55-300mm AF-S VR. It's a bit slower focusing than the 70-300mm AF-S VR, so it's not as suitable for sports. But it does have a wider zoom range and would be a perfect compliment to your 18-55mm.

George is right.

Basically ANY Nikkor AF-S lens will auto-focus on your D60

I think George meant to say the Nikon 70-300 f/4~5.6G AF will meter, but not autofocus with the D60.
