That model won't autofocus with the D5200.It is also not very good. Don't waste your money on it.

Yes. All 'G' lenses are fully compatible with the Nikon D5200 camera.

However, if the 70-300mm lens is a FX lens, then on your DX camera, the range becomes effectively 105 - 450mm.

I had the 70-300mm G lens, and after it broke, I gave it away. It's an all plastic lens that won't autofocus on your D5200.To get autofocus, you need either the 70-300mm AF-S VR or the 55-300mm AF-S VR. The "AF-S" designation means the lens has the required internal motor to autofocus with Nikon consumer-level DSLR's.

Here's a webpage that lists all the compatible lenses for your camera. The list is updated everytime manufacturers introduce new lenses, as the majority of the new Nikon mount optics have the internal autofocus motor.

Yes it is, but you will have to manually focus using it on your fine D5200

If you want auto-focus, you will need to step up to the Nikkor AF-S 70-300 mm VR lens

Link to all the current Nikkor lenses. Look for the ones that are AF-S.

That is the cheap 70-300mm.

Not only will it not autofocus on your camera, it is not a very good lens. Get the AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5~5.6

You can get one refurbished for $359. I'd rather buy the refurbished AF-S than a new version of the lens you are considering.

I bought one of these lenses refurbished (by Nikon) and have had no issues. There's no problem in my view if you buy "factory refurbished" lenses. The only downside is you only get a 90 day warranty vs a 5 year warranty.
