Is purchasing this Nikon D60 worth it? - 1
I have received an offer to buy a Nikon D60 purchased in 2009.
In 2009, it retailed for $650.
I have the opprotunity to purchase it for $150, with one lense.
1.In general, is this purchase worth it? Keeping in mind the age.
2. The only "cons" I have found online to this camera is that it has no live preview or video.
Would this be a good purchase or should I just invest in a new DLSR?
To anyone who is familiar with this camera, please leave your opinion/advice.
For $150? If it is in good, working condition? YES, it's worth it. It's outdated, but it's a good camera. Finding any DSLR that cheap doesn't often happen. It'd be a great starter camera to learn on.It'll produce amazing images if you learn how to use it properly.
For $150? If you don't buy it, I will!
Now, I'm shooting professionally with a Nikon D300, a camera that was introduced in 2008.It's age doesn't bother me or affect my results. Yes, it does have liveview, but of the thousands of photos I've taken with it, I've only used liveview for about a dozen or so shots. Video? If I want video, I'll get a video camera, and not a compromise product.
Here's review of the D60 that I hope you will consider buying. Remember, the hundreds you save could be used to buy lenses to create your own camera system.

Buy the way, would you consider buying a 2009 car or waiting until you could afford a new one? Hmm, maybe 2008/2009 technology is good enough.
The D60 is a very high rated camera. It is a popular camera and was a very popular camera in its era. It has high reviews and many people seem to like it. That can be seen here:

Cameras have improved a lot since the time of the release of the D60. The newer model of the D60, the D3100, is much more improved. A comparison of these cameras can tell you more about this. It can be found here:

Although the newer camera may have higher true resolution, better boost ISO, better maximum light sensitivity, has a larger screen, shoots movies, and has live view, the D60 is still a really good camera. It is definitely worth $150. The decision you make in what camera to buy really depends on how you plan on using the camera. If you are going to be using it for recreational purposes, and you are not a serious photographer and do not plan on becoming one, I would buy the D60.It really depends on if you will be using the full extents and improvements of the camera. If you will be using a wide range of settings on manual shooting, I would buy a newer camera. The pictures taken in auto mode on each camera will almost look the same when held side by side. But the difference shows when you get into manual settings and use things like ISO and shutter speeds etc.
For $150, the Nikon D60 is a GREAT purchase. I would definitely take advantage of that offer, as long as it is in good condition. For a non-professional photographer, the D60 is still an awesome camera to own. Have fun!
It depends on it's condition. If it's beat up and worn out, no. If it's in nice condition, it's a steal at $150. Real photographers don't use live preview.
