Is it okay to use NIKKOR FX lenses on a D3100 (DX Camera)?
I'm going to be getting myself a Nikon D3100 in the near future. I'm looking at the list of NIKKOR lenses on the Nikon website. There are only three prime DX lenses. I highly doubt NIKKOR would force customers to invest in an expensive FX camera, so my question is: can I use one of the 40 prime FX lenses and use it was the D3100?
The lens will mount, and the aperture can be controlled if it is a G lens.
The only thing you will miss is autofocus on a non-AF-S or AF-I lens.
There are only a few AF-S prime lenses, so unless you wish to learn how manually focus with that camera, your choices are very limited.
DX lenses on FX is the problem. D3100 is motorless so if you're into primes but you want autofocus perhaps a d90 will be more your thing.
