Inexpensive tripod suggestions?
I'm an aspiring photographer with an introductory SLR (Nikon D40) and I want to purchase an inexpensive tripod to practice/learn with. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Go to target or Walmart and and pick the one you like.
Yes. Don't buy a cheap tripod.
If you must scrimp then look at Calumet Photos own range, or Giottis.
A cheap tripod will be frustrating in use and last you a year.
A half decent, metal tripod will last you forever and will be a joy to use.
I usually recommend manfrotto, something like 190 legs and a basic ball head (494RC) around £100, but you be using it 50 years.
Honestly, cheap tripods are a total waste of time.
You do NOT want to cheap out on a tripod, if that thing gives way then you are screwed. Your camera and lens will go crashing to the ground. Honestly, you do NOT want to cheap out on any sort of support for your camera, be it a strap, monopod or tripod.
