I have a Bogen Tripod Base what Ball Head will fit on this model?

Bogen 3001 Model Their was a video head style of #3126 but I'm needing a new head to fit the base leg model 3001 for using a nikon D90 with a battery pack installed with a Nikon VR 70-200mm lens

Take a 3/8"-16 nut and see if it fits on the screw on your tripod base. If it does, you can buy almost any ball head on the market today, as that is the standard thread. If that doesn't fit, try a 1/4"-20 nut, which is the same as the thread on the bottom of your camera. (An older tripod might use this smaller size.) If that's the case, you can get a bushing to adapt the 3/8" hole to fit a 1/4" bolt for a couple of bucks. Some ball heads come with this bushing.

Pretty much any head should fit on any tripod.

They are usually either a 1/4 inch bold or a 3/8" bolt, but most of the ones I have seen are reversible, meaning if you take the bolt out of the tripod legs, you can flip it over and the other side of the bolt will have the other size.
