What's an extremely cheap, low tripod head? - 1

I own a kombi and i got the idea to buy a really low, small tripod head that i could stick onto the dash and mount my camera, effectively making my car a giant, 4 four wheeled tripod. I think it would be really handy and i could use heaps of long exposures while driving et cetera.

i was just wondering what everyones opinion on an extremely inexpensive (i'm talking extremely cheap), low yet sturdy tripod head. It should be able to support a nikon d300 and a 24 - 70mm.
i've been searching the interwebs and have come up with a few options such as the Velbon PH-25, SLIK Standard Ball Head-II, Manfrotto 494 Ball Head or the Giottos MH-1002.

any opinions or new ideas are greatly appreciated and have a good day

Added (1). Dude, its a kombi. The window is huge, there would be more than enough room for the camera. The cameras not going to live there, just when i feel like.
you clearly don't understand the point of this, its not to produce professional photos, just for some fun and something to do.
i have no intention of using a window mount.
i only say for use with my nikon because its the largest camera i have got so i thought a tripod head that could support that would be more than enough for any camera i have, including my tiny lomo cameras i use for fun.

No idea what a kombi is but apparently is a big vehicle of some sort. PRoblem there's vibration. Yes you could mount something on a dash but without any dampening you'd get a lot of vibration to shake your shots.

I'm trying to picture this whole thing in my head. Have you actually set your camera / lens combination up on your dash to see how much room this is going to occupy, not to mention how much of your vision is going to be blocked? (You do know you can be stopped and fined for something like that obstructing your view don't you)?

How do you plan to mount the head to the dash? It is certainly not going to just sit there. Are you going to try to tape it down? A tripod head only has an internal thread on the bottom of the head.

Also, you say you want to use very long exposures and use the car as a large tripod while driving. That is all contradictory to what a tripod does. A tripod is used to STEADY a camera. It is not just a device to support the camera. If you do somehow mount the camera to the dash and drive while taking a long exposure, the photo is going to be nothing but a massive blur, and probably very overexposed also.

Sorry, but all this sounds like:

1. A good way to have an accident
2. A good way to get a traffic ticket
3. A good way to damage a fine camera / lens
4. A good way to take some really lousy photos.

ADD: I see Picture Taker has linked you to some window mounts, which I also though about, however, these are not really designed to support the weight of a DSLR and heavy lens. Also, the same applies as far as having terribly blurred photos if you try to shoot while driving, unless you are shooting video. Also, you would be amazed how much room one of these brackets take up beside you when even a small camera is mounted to it. I have done it, so I'm speaking from experience. I have a window bracket. It can be useful when you are PARKED, but not while moving.

ADD: I still don't know how you are going to mount the head securely to the dash. And still, the photos are just going to be a blurry mess and likely very overexposed. But hey, do what you want and have fun. I just don't want you to risk damage to your camera for some VERY un-professional shots. Whatever.
