I aim planning to buy a DSLR camera?
Which is better for a beginner like me, I have a list, Canon 550D or NIKON D3100 or ant suggestion.
I was in the same situation a couple weeks ago. I've never actually used an SLR in my life. I ended up buying the Nikon 3100. I must say, I'm really happy with my purchase. I'm still learning, but even on automatic settings, the images are magazine quality.
I bought mine from that online Kogan place for half the price of shops.
Both are beginner class models in their make. But canon's 550D is slightly higher spec than Nikon's D3100.
And the price also will tell you. I would suggest 550D if you are not brand crazy like me, lol.
550D auto focus with most third party lenses opposed to D3100.
And there's OEM battery grip for 550D while none for D3100 yet.
An excellent review comparing the two is here:
From what I can see, if you expect to move up to a much more expensive camera eventually and plan to be very serious about movie and picture taking, the Canon has a slight edge. If this is to be your camera for quite a while and looking more for a high grade camera without getting into the professional or top amateur world, the Nikon is better as a lower price, better auto-focus at least in movies, and a little better in the camera grip at picture taking.
They are both excellent beginner's choices and neither would be a mistake.

Canon has higher rating review. Canon has better resolution for large poster photos (greater than 8x10 inches), Canon better LCD, canon slightly stronger flash, Canon with stereo mic.
Online checks in the USA show pricing is now approximately comparable.
Would probably go for the Canon, and give up a little about auto-focus movie mode in favor of the positive features on the Canon.
There's no difference actually. You can go with any of them and any of them won't take you down. It's your skill that will make you a pro photographer not the cameras and the lenses. If the Nikon is the inferior make, then you can't see Nikons all over the place. The same way with the other.
Let your senses decide.
Go to a store like Best Buy & hold each one in your hands. Chose the one that feels right to you. They are both decent entry level cameras. Myself, I'd go with the Nikon.
D3100 has no AF motor built in and records at "only" 24fps in HD video. 550D has the motor built in and shoots at 60fps in HD which is great for video.
Quality is the same, D3100 has 2 more AF points, 550D shoots at 1fps faster and has slightly better high ISO performance. I'd go with it.
