How would you get a photo to look like this?
Like with the sharp focus and blurred background? What kind of lens was used? And at what distance do you think the picture was taken? All I can see is that a Nikon D60 was used… Thanks!
Ignore the idiot above they haven't a clue what they are talking about, look up depth of field, there's no trickery or post processing there.
That is called Shallow depth of field.
That can be achived with a fast lens.
The lens used was a 50mm f/1.8 ( )
That photo may have been taken with Nikon's 50mm f/1.8D lens (based on the 50mm focal length and the 1.8 aperture according to the exif data). The blurred background is created by having a shallow depth of field--the large aperture of the lens makes a more pleasing blur, but just about any lens can create the same effect.
It is depth of field manipulation, it depends on the focal length and aperture of the lens you are using, and the blurred background will look different with different lenses, btw.
Like the other people said, the lens was probably a 50mm, but most other lenses can create that just by focusing on the foreground subject.
It creates a shallow depth of field, which blurs out the background. The larger the aperature the more shallow the depth of field (and when I say larger, I mean the smaller the f-stop number, as small numbers correspond to a wider opening).
