How to take portial picture from Nikon d3000?

Please help me how to take portial pic from Nikon d3000? I'm new so teach me steap by steap. And which lens will be best to take portial pic? I want to buy lens also so suggest me, your advice will be great for me.

Portial? Steap by steap? I'm assuming you mean *portrait*? Just keep the 18-55 you already have and use it at 50 or 55mm…

Set the D3000 to Auto everything and EV to 0. Go out under the shade when the sun is up. Set lens to 55mm and walk towards or away your subject until you get the right frame you want. Press the shutter release button halfway, hold until the lens focuses, then press completely.
