How to get rid of vignette from new camera lenses?

I'm not the most experienced at technology, one could say, but photography is a passion. I was given a Nikon D3000 not too long ago and I've just recently purchased two new lenses for it. However, when I put them on, there was a black vignette around the photo. It would look like this:

which is something I don't want. On the side of the box holding the lens it would note to alter the settings to get rid of the vignette. After searching through my owner's manual and the camera menu itself, I'm still lost on how to get the vignette to go away. Anyone have any ideas?

Wait, are you using screw-on filter junk things that try to act like lenses? If so, toss 'em in the trash and that'll solve your vignetting issues.

You must specify which lens you're using now

The vignette has very sharp edges. It's not anything to do with the settings is it

Is that an actual pic from your camera or did you just make it up? What kind of lenses did you recently buy? Did they screw in to the front end of your kit lens? Those are called adapters. To remove vignetting from the wide or fisheye attachment, set your kit lens to a longer focal length, at or near the 55mm mark.
