How to focus on my nikon D3100?

I make beauty video on youtube & sometimes I want to show products & I want to focus them but i don't know how? Can someone please help!

While the D3100 can auto-focus, it is much slower when in the live view mode necessary when shooting video.
Most people attempting to use a dSLR as a video camera manually focus their shots and use some kind of loupe to assure accurate focus
