How much would a Nikon D5000 cost with the lens and 4 memory cards?

How much would a Nikon D5000 cost with an 18-55mm lens, two 4gb memory cards and two 2gb cards? I've really been wanting to sell everything and use the money to buy either a Nikon D5100 or a Canon EOS 60D. Also, which one is better in both video and picture quality? The Nikon D5100 or the Canon EOS 60D?

Added (1). I really want a camera in which the screen comes out on the side. So a d7000 isn't an option especially because of the price. My options are now the Canon 60D and 600D or the Nikon D5100. Which one of those is best?

Memory cards are pretty much dirt cheap.

You can by 4 gb class 10 cards for under $7

D5000 cameras are selling for about $500 on craigslist in my area with the 18-55 mm lens

You are really comparing the wrong cameras.

The Canon 60D is placed against the Nikon D7000.

The Canon 600D/T3i is placed against the Nikon 5100

Here is the quality of video you can expect from the D7000 if you know how to light your scenes and follow a script.

It would cost approximately US$400 to US$600 depending on:
-If you will include all the accessories, the box, the plastics, etc. That came with the camera.
-If the Nikkor 18-55mm is the VR type
-The class of the memory cards you will include (but the memory cards are negligible in price)
-The condition of the camera body.

The Canon 60D offers a built-in Autofocus Motor so if you plan on buying old lenses like those in the film days, then you can autofocus it with the camera. The max.shutter speed of the 60D is also 1/8000 of a second while the D5100 is 1/4000 of a sec.

The Nikon D5100 is way WAY better in low-light as you'll get less noise at about ISO1200 so you have more versatility with the camera in indoor situations w/o a flash. D5100 also has an in-camera HDR, and also allows you to autofocus when shooting videos. It's also way cheaper.

Though, I never recommend taking videos with a DSLR.

Conclusion… Sell your D5000, and upgrade to the D7000. You've used a Nikon camera before and are accustomed to its settings. An upgrade to a D5100 isn't really much of an upgrade.

Tilt-screens are gimmicks. Just another thing that can fail.

I don't think most DSLR users would honestly want one - I certainly don't and would avoid any camera having one. The only reason Nikon has a camera with one is to have something to compete with Canon - the king of gimmicks.

If you are wanting to sell your camera to buy a D5100, you should realize that you will not see any improvement in your photography. The D5100 (nor are the Canons) is not enough of a step up to justify the cost.

If you are wanting to upgrade, then upgrade - which would mean a D7000, not a D5100; tilt screen or not.

One way to ascertain the value of a camera is to look a the eBay completed listings. A D5000 without lens seems to be averaging $235, and with lens about $270.

Remember that Nikon recently shaved $200 off the price of new D5100s, and they are selling new now for around $650. That pretty much drops the value of your D5000 to under $300.

There's not much value in used SD cards.
