How is a 18-55 lens for panning?
I've just got my hands on my new Nikon D3100 which comes with a 18-55 kit lens. I was thinking of getting some traffic photographs using the panning technique. How will the 18-55 lens work for this?
Fairly well, I'd imagine.
Very well if you know exactly what you are doing. It's all about you. The camera and lens are only tools.
Panning isn't really affected by the lens you use, it's your technique and skill. You need to practice. And even the best pan shots are found in long strings of throw away photos, so don't sweat it if you take a lot of photos to get 1 or 2 stunning keepers.
