How to shoot self timer with burst mode in Nikon D40? - 1

I really wanted to be in the photo when I picture with my friends. Sometimes I use the self timer mode, but I would still wait for 10 seconds just to capture one shot. Now, I want to know how to take photos in burst mode with self timer in D40.

I'm pretty certain that you can't shoot continuously at the same time you're in self timer mode (I don't have a D40, I have a D300).
Why not just buy a remote release? That way you can be in the image, the autofocus will work ok & you won't have to worry about self timers or continuous shooting.
They're dirt cheap;

Simple answer - you can't.

If you use a remote shutter release, you can tell the camera when to take each shot remotely.
NO camera can shoot more than one shot using the self-timer.
The wireless Remote Control ML-L3 for your camera costs under $20
