Help choosing a new camera?

I'm an aspiring photographer in need of an equipment upgrade. I have 2 fujifilm digital SLR camera's that aren't the best. I have looked around and have figured that the "canon rebel t31" and "nikon d5100" are some top of the line camera's. I'm getting ready to buy the canon rebel, but I want some direct feedback about it (or any other camera that I should potentially buy). Please give me some ideas and feedback.

I'm a big fan of Canon cameras. I have owned 5 over the years.

Nikon d40

Both of those cameras are good… However I recommend that you go for the Canon Rebel T3i. It is an awesome camera that just needs to be used with some good lenses and by a good photographer.
You can get the t3i along with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens at amazon for $574.99

Remember, what really makes a difference is the lens that you uses and your shooting skills.

I personally like the Canon rebel t4i. The features are extremely similar to the t3i but the touch screen makes life so much easier.
