I need some awesome lenses to make my photos look well, awesome.

Added (1). Yes, indeed you can find TONS of fab lenses under $30. I just don't know which one. I usually use my camera for sports or people pictures. EXAMPLES: fisheye, macro lenses, ETC.

I don't think you can get any lenses for that price unless you happen to find an old one at a thrift store.

You must be joking. Good lenses cost over $300. Great lenses cost over $ 1, 000.

You can probably buy a fungus-etched banged up 40 year old lens to fit a Nikon on eBay for $30, or even a brand new Holga 60mm lens for a Nikon mount at Amazon for $25 (each of which will return similar results), but I don't think you are being very realistic about how much a lens costs.

The only way you are likely to get a good lens at that price is if you have the good fortune to find someone (maybe a relative) who hates to bother advertising and hangling looking to unclutter some surplus used lenses.

Oh, I see what you mean now. You can find attachment lenses at Amazon. You need to match the size to the filter size. For the Nikon 18-55mm kit lens, that would be 52mm. Don't expect the quality to be very good, but the pictures might look okay at lower resolutions.

It all depends on your definition of fab: I think a good 70-200 mm f/2.8 is fab, but then it should be given the fact that it retails for a cool US$ 2, 400.So for me there are no fab lenses to be found for US$ 30. Awesomeness too, is very subjective. If you think the trashy-vintage Holga effect is awesome, by all means, go and buy yourself a Holga lens.

Another way to go is to buy a Nikon-fit-to-M42-screw lens adapter which must include an optical element to bridge the gap between the Nikon's mount flange and the rear lens element of M42 lenses, otherwise the lens will not focus to infinity (some are sold without this optical element). This will allow you to fit cheap, but high-quality M42 screw lenses on your Nikon D5000 such as the early Pentax Takumars, original Vivitar Series 1 etc. Check Ebay to get an idea.
This however, will sort of cripple your D5000 as you'll lose autofocus and auto-metering since M42 lenses weren't designed to communicate with your D5000.
