DSLR Nikon camera recommendations?

So, I'm looking to purchase a new DSLR, after the Christmas season. I had a Nikon d40, but I want to upgrade - I know the d90 has the best reviews, but I definitely don't need the video capabilities, so I'm wondering which of their models has the same (or similar capabilities) without the huge price tag or video stuff.

Added (1). I know I don't need to use the video capabilities, but I was hoping there would be a version that would be cheaper because it didn't have the video capabilities. And "huge price tag" means anything over $750 I guess. I'm just looking for cheaper options.

The next cheaper new Nikon is the D5100 ($696 vs. $829, body only). I would spend the extra $134 for the D90. The only way to not get the video feature is to go for the D700 ($2, 700) or D3 series ($5, 200++).

Besides, just because the camera does video, does not mean you need to use it.

Well there aren't many bodies available that would be much different than your D40. Please define huge price tag, is that $500, $800? And just because you don't need video it doesn't mean you don't buy the camera that has it… Just don't use that function.

The D3100 and d5100 are pretty much your only options.
