DSLR Compatibility- Nikon D3200 and Tamron 11-18mm?
Wondering if the Tamron 11-18mm DX Lens for Nikon Mount is compatible in any way, with the Nikon D3200. I understand that the D3200 and the 11-18 do not have auto focus but will it break my camera if I use it in manual? If so will I get good results? (I'm using this lens for photographing a new home I built.)
NO lens that fits your camera will break it if you use it in the manual focus mode.
You will just have to learn how to use the electronic rangefinder in your camera's viewfinder. The good news is that using the rangefinder will teach you shot discipline… A very good thing
Remember to place your camera on a tripod at a distance of one half the distance from floor to ceiling and with the back of the camera parallel to the homes walls
Here is a sample of an interior shot using the above technique to prevent "keystoning" DSLR lenses were meant to be focused manually. Results will depend on your skill. With wide angle, you hardly need to focus at all.
Focusing manually can break the camera (and lens) in a number of cameras if there's an AF linkage in the mount and the focus switch is set to AF.
