Does Vivitar 100-300mm lens fits on Nikon D3100?
I have a Nikon D3100 and I wanna know if the Vivitar 100-300mm lens can fit on my Nikon D3100.It's an older lens so I have no idea it can fit or not. Please Let me know! Here are some information about the lens: Vivitar 100-300mm close focus to zoom. 1:5. K-mount.
K-mount fits Pentax, not Nikon.
Even the Nikon mount version wouldn't do you much good, because it's MF and won't even meter on a D3100.
There are plenty of Vivitar lenses that have the Nikon F mount. Most Vivitar lenses were actually pretty decent, they were made by several reputable firms like Konica, Cosina and others. Most old film lenses will have an aperture ring that will let you control the aperture, so as long as you are willing to manually focus, set the aperture and shutter speed in the manual "M" mode, you can use those lenses all day long. I have several manual lenses of various makes that I use on my Nikons. Keep in mind that with the cropped sensor, a 100-300mm lens would give you images that approximate something from a 150-450mm lens.
