Does the Nikon D3100 include a/the lens?

I'm buying my first DSLR camera and i'm wanting to buy the Nikon D3100. But I haven't been able to figure out if it includes a lens. If it does, should I buy a better one? And if it doesn't, which one is the best buy? And if you think that I could get a better camera, please tell me! My budget is max $800.

If the Camera is in a "Kit" Than Yes a Lens is included, but if it's a "Body Only" then a Lens is NOT Included.

In A Camera "Kit" usually states which Lens is Included.

Yes most kits, a kit contains, the body, the basic 18-55mm lens, a charger, battery and a very very very simple manual.

First thing to buy hence is another battery, memory cards for your camera and yes a basic beginners book specifically written about your model. One with pictures that tells you about what the buttons do and what effect that has.

Oh and don't forget to buy a nice protective padded bag. That way you can take your camera with you safe knowing that if it rains and you want to keep your camera dry it is safe in a bag. Same for if you are packing bags and your camera goes into it to. The padded bags [LowePro sells them but also other brands] will make sure your camera is safe.

Yeah so a basic beginner DSLR kit with the 18-55 plus a bag, memory card and maybe another battery fits in $800.
