Does the 35mm f 1.8 autofocus with the Nikon D3000?

I'm really confused.

I'm looking for a lens that is good for low light photography and/or a lens that produces nice bokeh.

Lately I have been browsing around and looking at lenses like the 55mm f 1.4 and the f 1.8 and also the 35mm f 1.8…

Originally I was going for the 50mm f 1.4 but I decided against it because from what I understand it doesn't auto focus…

the same i discovered for the 50mm f 1.8…

From what I understand the lenses that are autofocus compatible with the D3000 should say AF-S or AF-I… Correct?

so this lens: http://www.amazon.com/...B001S2PPT0

should have autofocus for me right?

Some people have confused because I keep hearing mixed messages about this on different websites. (Regarding all the lenses.) And now I'm just frustrated and lost.

Which lens is the best for me? And What one will work?

My budget is an unfortunately rather limited $300.

***opps… It appears I'm on my friends account… Ah well, i hope she doesn't mind! Love you steph!***

There are two versions of the 50mm f/1.4, one will autofocus on your camera, and the other will not.

for autofocus, you will need AF-S or AF-I lenses

Choose based on that- the 50mm would be a great lens to have for general photography and portraits.

STOP being confused.

ANY Nikkor AF-S or AF-I lens can be used with your D3000 camera in the auto-focus mode.

AF lenses must be manually focused using the electronic rangefinder in your view finder.

Here is a link to all the current lenses available for your camera. Remember to look at ONLY the AF-S lenses listed

With this data, you will NO LONGER be confused
