Does anyone have the Nikon D3100?
Pros or cons about it? I just got the nikon d3100 two days ago and I'm wondering if there's anything I'm missing, any small details that help, any "glitches" haha etc. To give me a heads up? It all just seems to easy! Just wondering… Thank you!
Oh, so you're the one who took that last available D3100. It's sold out already. I'm contemplating on whether to get the D3100 or get the D90. D7000 is excellent, but it's out of my budget.
D3100 is an excellent entry-level DSLR camera from Nikon. While it's an entry-level tool, it's packed with a ton of Nikon's new technologies, like a new imaging processor to reduce the noise levels at higher ISOs. It allows you to record movies at 1080. Now, it does limit it to 10 minutes, but that it because video recording on a DSLR heats up the sensors pretty fast, so they have to stop it.
Some cons:
* No mic jack; you have to use their internal mic. And when you use autofocus when shooting movies, it will record the mechanism working in the camera.
* The LCD is still low-res; while it won't affect your image quality, it's still nice to have one that's at least 900K so that you'll get a better sense of what your photo will look like.
Nikon's done well with the D3100, and has online video tutorials: http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/D3100/index.html
It's also compatible with over 40 of Nikon's lenses, definitely upgrade your lenses when you have the money. Here's a tip: http://mansurovs.com/best-nikon-lenses-for-wedding-photography
Or, you can visit Amazon and see what Nikon lenses are best-selling. Check out the sample images to get an idea of what the lenses can do.
Remember, lower 'mm' gives you a wider angle shot for landscapes. ~50mm is the representation of the human eye sight. 100mm+ is good for getting close-ups and telephotos.
Girls with DSLRs are incredibly attractive. Haha
