Does anyone have opinions about this Tamron lens?

So I'm looking for a new lens for my Nikon d3100. I was suggested by multiple people on here to get the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8.It looks like a pretty solid lens, but I'd like to get some of your guy's opinions. If you've used this lens, what do you have to say about it, pros and cons?

Thanks!

Added (1). If you didn't like it, what else would you recommend?

That would be a great all around lens for a full frame sensor camera. You will probably find that it isn't wide enough for general shooting on your crop sensor camera unless you do lots of portrait work. Look for something which is around 18mm on the low end of the focal length. Perhaps the Tamron 17-50mm, f/2.8. Focal length range is usage dependent. Perhaps the 28-75 would better suit you than the 17-50, only you can answer that.

If you want reviews, go to B&H Photo's web page and see what folks have to say about this lens.

Many people like this lens. Be sure to read the reviews for the Canon version too.

You can also do a search on Flickr for this lens and see lots of sample shots.

If your camera came with the 18-55mm kit lens, this won't add much to your capabilities. I bought the Tamron 18-270mm PZD lens for my Nikon D90. I love that lens. It does everything for me, well almost. If you don't mind changing lenses in the field, at least get a 55-200mm VR lens and add some reach to your shooting.
