Do I Want a Sony HX100V Compact or A Canon 550d/Nikon D3100 DSLR?

I'm looking at getting either of these 3 cameras.

I want e that's especially Professional for film. Film is more important to me for the camera.

I need something that is good in low light situations.

I was fixed on the HX100V Bridge camera til I saw that its lens isn't very wide and obviously, unlike the others, the lens can't be changed. I've also been told its "sensor?" isn't as good and obviously the focus and lens flexibility won't be as good.

Every ones thoughts?

You're not going to get anything professional in that budget…

A SLR will perform better in low light thanks to it's large sensor. And having the option for fast primes is an advantage. With the Canon you can go to f1.2 (if you have the money).

The 550D is probably the best compromise here, it's got reasonable performance, and the lens options are really good.

Nikon D3100 18-55vr Kit camera is everything that I had hoped for, and a little bit more. I probably won't buy another 'proper camera' for quite a few years and so I wanted something that would not only last, but would help me rediscover photography and allow me to grow. If you are a novice and/ or, returning to photography after a considerable time away, then I would highly recommend the Nikon D3100.
