Digital slr camera opinion?

I'm just getting into photography. I was going to buy a nikon d3100 because i read good reviews, tried it out, and it is within my budget. Should i buy this camera or should i wait to get a better one?
Added (1). I tried it and i like it. I'm just wondering if i should wait to get a higher end one.

In all honesty, the best thing to do is go into a photographic shop where you can get your hands on it, as well as the competitors, such as the Canon 1000D & 500D, Pentax K-x, Sony a290, etc. See which feels easiest to use. By this I mean the physical feeling of the cameras, navigating menus and changing settings. Button layouts vary between the brands, so see which you like best.
If it doesn't feel right in your hands after playing with it for 10 minutes, it's not going to get any better after 10 days, 10 weeks, even 10 months!

The D3100 is a very good camera and will last you for years as long as you take care of it. The best you can do with a DSLR camera is to use it well in manual mode. Manual mode works the same on all DSLR cameras.

The longer you wait, the more picture taking moments you miss. That's why I bought my Pentax Kx even when the Pentax Kr was already being stocked.

Buy it, if you wait for the next model, you will never get a camera. The d3100 is a very good camera, it will ease you into photography and offers full manual for when you are ready.

You're just getting into photography, so why would you need a 'higher end' camera? An entry level dSLR like the D3100 will be just fine.

Nikon D7000

Well, you can get a better one now (i.e.a higher end model). So there's no need to wait.
That said, there will ALWAYS be a better model after you buy yours. Just like computers become obsolete the moment you bring them home, there will always be a new camera coming out. If you waited for the latest and greatest, then you would never buy a camera.
Unless there's a new version of the d3100 coming out in the next couple of months or so, I don't see a reason to wait.
