Digital camera similar to the Nikon D80?

I need a digital camera for school, job, and fun. I wanted the Nikon D80, but they no longer sell those. The camera needs to be Nikon brand, but the specific version doesn't matter that much. It will be my first professional camera, so it doesn't need to be that advanced. However, I want something better than the base model. Any suggestions? All help is appreciated!

The answer should be pretty obvious then, get a D90. Not considered a "pro" model, but a lot of people use them that way. It is a very good piece of gear, if a little aged at this point.

The D80 was replaced by the D90 and there are still a few around with a rebate attached. It has recently been replaced by the Nikon D7000. All three cameras are NOT base models but more advance cameras

You can still get a new Nikon D80 here:

Personally I would just order that. There are only a few left.

You could consider a D90 as well I guess:
