Decent dslr under £100?

Alex

I've been looking at the Nikon d50 and the Nikon d70s, do you know where I can get these cameras under £100? I know this is probably impossible but if you could find it great (preferably the d70s).

Impossible bro sorry.

You can't even buy just the body for that cost. Even the lens will cost more.

I occasionally see very rough early DSLRs crop up for this price, about the best you could hope for would be a Canon D30 (old 3.0MP version) D60 (old 6Mp version not current 18MP version) or a pretty rough rebel or 10D (my mate got a 10D from ffordes for £99, well used but still perfectly servicable)

I've seen D50s from around £130 body only, but I've also seen D100's for similar money, and I would opt for the latter, the D50 was the cheapest of the cheap in build and specification. The D100 was built well and had some more advanced features.

Heres the cheapest I could find:

For any of these cameras the cheapest decent lens would be a used 50mm f1.8 (you'll get a nikon mf 50mm f1.8 very cheap, especially an old E series, still a sharp decent wee lens) or Sigmas 18-50DC lens.

Keep looking around - you might get lucky on ebay or something, never say never! Don't be too bothered about the 50 or 70… They are almost identical par for a few small things.grab what you can find - i've had several exhibitions with pics i took with a d50 and they are blown up to 1m wide! They are both gen 1 and will take almost identical pics.

Keep an eye on ebay and other places where people sell used stuff.

Ha

that's a joke right?

even a 10 year old DSLR in really bad condition will go for 200 pounds

You're not going to be able to get any DSLR with that kind of budget unless its really old and used

That's pushing things a little too far now. For £100, you could probably get a Nikon D1, a D50 or a D100 body, but you need a lens, and a serviceable lens for a Nikon DSLR is going to be minimum of £30-50 for a Series E or AI 50mm (neither will meter on anything except the D1). You're really limiting yourself.

Alternatively you could probably pick up an Olympus OM20 with 50mm f1.8 Zuiko for £25-40, it's an old film camera but it's going to outperform any DSLR under £200.

If I find it, I wouldn't tell you. I'd buy it for myself. I doubt there's one though. Even secondhand broken copies sell for much more.
