Cost to repair my camera lens?
I have a Nikon d60 with the stock 15-55mm kit lens. A few weeks ago my brother borrowed the camera and his friend spilled chocolate milk on my lens. Now the lens will not zoom. The manual focus works but due to the inability of the lens to focus the autofocus is not operational. How much would I be in the hole for in this case?
The ONLY way to find that out is to take it to a camera repair shop or send to the OEM.
A D60 body would have likely had the non-VR first generation G lens, which goes for $110 new. Get a quote if you like, but I guarantee with a non-VR kit lens it's more cost effective to get a new one.
To much. Just toss it and buy another one.
Nikon and Canon both charge a minimum of $250 just to look at a lens which is far more than that lens is worth. You can replace the 18-55 for less than $100.
Sell it for parts is possible and buy another lens
