Where can I repair my cracked camera lens?

I'm not sure how it happened, but my 18-55mm lens is broken. It is a AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm and I want to repair it. I can still take pictures with it, but I want to get it repaired. I don't have the money for a new one so I just want to know where I can repair it.

Look for a Nikon authorised dealer in your area or contact Nikon direct - it may be cheaper to replace the lens, though.

Be sure to ask for an estimate and compare the new to the repaired price. As in this day and age, most camera repairs to digital products (I know this IS a lens) are more expensive than replacing the product in the first place. Don't forget eBay and Craigslist and your local paper you may be able to find a used "deal"!

Unfortunately, if you can't afford a new Nikon 18-55mm zoom lens then its highly unlikely that you can afford to have your broken one repaired. In fact, it would probably cost as much if not more to repair your lens then it would to just buy a replacement. Repairs aren't free and the manufacturer's warranty doesn't cover damage from abuse.

Where? If you have a workshop that would be the best. The garage will do too but if it's impossible to work there, you could always barricade the kitchen.

Bring it back to the store you bought the camera from. Ask for service. Check repair quote first before committing. It's not unusual for repairs to be more expensive than buying a new one.
