I took the pictures on my Nikon d3200 on RAW format. However, when I transferred them to my computer it seems to be in jpg format like when I try e-mailing them…

The only way your images could show up as JPEG's would be if you shot in the RAW + JPEG mode.

Your camera has a 24 mp sensor, so the RAW image files will be quite large (up to 24 mb) as will be the JPEG image files if you stipulated Large, Fine can be as large as 12 mb

As you probably know, email servers have a limit to the total size that attachments can be and a full size JPEG may be approaching those limits.

You can do what most of us do and that is to after processing our RAW image files in Lightroom CC, export them as JPEG images but limit their size to something like 2992 x 2000 pixels at 72 ppi using the Image Sizing tool. This will produce an image that is much easier to send via email and since the highest resolution most computer monitors can resolve is 72 ppi, all will be well.

NOTE:

For clarity, you do NOT convert RAW image files to anything. You process them and then export them as either JPEG, TIFF, DNG or PSD image files. For the most part, only JPEG image files can be viewed in websites or or without a special program to view TIFF, DNG or PSD files
