60D. The film capabilities of the D90 are quite rudimentary. A much more interesting option would be Nikon's new D5100. That has, for that class, excellent film capabilities and a mic-in option.
You need to be comparing the 60D to the Nikon D7000, those two are those companies latest entries into that level of dSLR
The Canon 40D was the camera that was in direct competition with the D90
You can better compare those cameras by visiting the Nikon and Canon websites and then filled with all that data, visit a camera shop and hold them in your hands and see which fit you and your needs the best.
Since none of these cameras do "film" you're going to find that difficult - digital cameras record video.
Film and video are two completely different media like comparing a bicycle to a car.
It strikes me, more over, that you're really going to need is good editing software to create really nice long or short videos.
I use one by Roxio called Creator - $120 at retail. It does very nice work.
Canon 60D come is better because it come with better features. More mega pixel, faster, wider ISO range and shoot video in 1080p while D90 shoot 720p video.
However Nikon D90 is an older model if you want to compare to the same level camera you should consider Nikon D7000.
