If you are still uncertain which to pick, after reading the other answers.remember that Canon offers a Loyalty Program. You can trade-in (Up) your old Canon, up to three times a year. And pay a discount on a more recent model. Warranty is 90 days instead of 1 year. Camera has been in a Store and not sold, or used and refurbished. You get to hold it for two weeks before making your decision. Canon Loyalty Program 1- (866) 443-8002

The D90 has been replaced by the amazing D7000. The 60D is a downgrade from the 50D - the 60D is plastic and the 50D, 40D, 30D, 20D, 10D, D60 and D30 were made out of extremely tough magnesium-alloy. The 60D isn't a very big upgrade from the Rebel T3i, so get the T3i or T2i. For Nikon, consider the D5100, but if you really want a D90, buy a used one.

First the Canon 60D is a current camera model. The D90 was replaced by the D7000

The Canon 40D and 50D cameras were slotted as semi-pro cameras as are the Nikon D90 and D7000. The Canon 60D is a departure.

"With the 18MP EOS 60D Canon has unashamedly moved the X0D range out of the 'semi pro' bracket and instead focused on the enthusiast photographer looking to upgrade from their Rebel" -- DP Review.

Here is how the Nikon D7000 sensor compares with the Canon 60D

D90 used to compete with the 50D, now the D7000 is somewhat competing with the 60D (but 60D is a lot cheaper).

60D is better in terms of features you get and ISO performance, but image quality is the same on all DSLRs.
