Canon T3 worth it? New camera soon

Patrick

I'm getting a new dslr and the T3 is just coming out.
Should I get this instead of a Nikon D3100, Canon xsi/T1i?

Added (1). Yeah, I'm not the average person using an expensive dslr in auto mode.
I have a camera class coming up in the spring semester.

Added (2). I'm also going to guess the T1i is going to go down in price soon?

I guess it depends on what you're using it for. I have a T2i, I like it, but I'm investing in a better camera, it's great, but it doesn't necessarily fit my needs. So If you're using it for a hobby, then I'd say you're probably better off with something cheaper. Might as well spend your money on something that you'll use, but you'd probably just end up using 1/3 of the camera's capabilities. But If money's not an issue, then go for it.

After reading about the t2i I'd say a t1i or the t2i would be just as good. Aside from the features meant for complete novice photographers, I don't see any real improvements.

I believe that the T1i is good for you, it offers many things that might be better than the T3, I'm in that same spot right now. After having done research, I'm going with the T1i. The T3's innitial price will be almost the same price as the T1i's, in some stores you'll find it even at a better price than the T3.

I see the T3 as a replacement for the Canon XS. I think they will discontinue the T1i and T2i, and have their new lineup something like this:
T3
T3i
60D
7D
5D Mk. 2
1D
1Ds

If you are just getting in to photography, then the T3 is a great beginner camera from what I have read so far. It hasn't shipped yet, so I can't judge on if it is worth it yet, but if it does what it claims it can do, then it seems pretty good.
