Canon T3 vs Nikon D3100? - 1

With my tax refund next year I'm looking to upgrade to my first SLR camera and the two I have picked out are the Canon T3 & the Nikon D3100.

I will be using the camera mostly for racing action which ranges from NASCAR to Drag racing to off road trucks. The big thing I'm looking to compare are,

*Which does better in low light conditions
*Which does better with focusing on objects far away, I know both come with the same lenses
*Which can shoot more fps
*Which one will do better with faster objects
*Which one will have more add on products such as lenses, flashes, remote firing timers and for a lower cost
*Which one is more versitale in the different conditions
*And Which one has a better battery life because most of the time like at the drags I will be out there 8-10 hours if not more

I know Canon and Nikon SLR cameras are often stated as the "same thing" in most aspects but I would like to know how well the perform in action shooting and I would like for anyone who shoots at races (professional or amateur) to chime in

First of all, the Canon T3i is a mid-range DSLR camera.
While the Nikon D3100 is an entry-level budget DSLR.
And therefore you'd expect the canon T3i to be much better in every way than the D3100, but also more expensive.

And anyway if you're alot into shooting sports, you will need to dig deeper into your pocket for buying professional gear, because honestly you won't be satisfied with low cost equipment.

Have a good day.

*the D3100 has a better handle on low light
*either or, it depends on how well you handle the camera so it can focus
*The Nikon D3100 can shoot full HD (1080p) at 24fps and HD (720p) at 30fps. The T3 can ONLY shoot HD (720p) at 30fps
*matters how you handle the camera for faster objects. They have the same highest shutter speeds (1/4000th of a second), which is enough to freeze helicopter blades at full throttle.
*They pretty much have the same amount of accessories, lenses, etc for their own system. If you see a lens you like on one side, the other side probably has the same thing as well
you can look here for prices of various accessories

finally, battery life. You can get anywhere from 200 shots to 1000 shots depending on your shooting habits. If you just take a picture and only look at the results occasionally, you will get closer to 1000 shots. If you use live view and review every picture after it is taken, you will be leaning towards 200 shots, if not, less.
Batteries are not rated for hours. If this is a concern for you, get a second, or even third battery to make sure you have enough juice.

*D3100 has higher max ISO and a bit less noise
*That really depends on the lens, but it's the same
*They're both 3fps
*What? All DSLRs have a shutter speed, how quick it is depends on you
*None, they're from Canon and Nikon, they both got tons of stuff
*That is useless to speak here, cameras above $2000 start to get different
* Pretty much the same

These are the cheapest, so they're similar. I'd go with the D3100 though.
